A buddy gave me a bag of plugs. The sticker on my motor says QL82C it a J25TEL3SSB. Half the plugs in the bag are QL82C and half are QL78C. He said that they are the same?? I checked them with the gap checker and they are all gapped around.30

Plugs are cheap, I'd get new ones regardless. The bag of old ones you can keep as backups. The plugs should be the same, difference being the QL82C is a slightly hotter plug. So if you idle often or troll , this might be a better option. If you're more of a wide open throttle type of boater go with the cooler plug.
