Hello,
Just ordered a Sun tracker 16 XL bass buggy. Come I believe with just a 6 gallon fuel tank to feed the 50 hp merc. Being concerned about consumption issues, has anyone mounted a reserve tank on the back deck where the OEM tank is mounted .
Not sure what the best weather resistant can or tank should be and how to secure it ? wish the barge came with a larger fuel cell. 😕 Please advise.

Thanks joe

Just unstrap the 6 gallon tank and strap on a new 12 gallon tank.
Available everywhere from iboats, amazon, walmart, or any marine supply.

Thanks buddy hopefully the base pan on the stock smaller one will fit a larger tank. Hopefully a 12 gallon tank is just taller. Sorry to sound DUMB roscoe!

The rule of thumb or fuel is 1/3 out, 1/3 third back, 1/3 in reserve. So take some trips and see what meets that ratio.

Makes perfect sense with that reply. We never adventured too far out in lake ontario with 24’ pontoon dad owned for 30 years. Always felt saver in staying and playing Port Bay . Just Getting back into boating again . Applied your theory while taking long distance road trips with a few harleys .
Thanks good advice
