Just a couple of observations...<br /><br />1. Wasn't the shuttle inside the earth's atmosphere (over the USA) when the tragedy took place ? That picture looks like it's still in outer space.<br /><br />2. Look at the shape of the flames. The shuttle was moving at some amazingly high speed when it happened. There's no way the flames would burst outwards like that at the speed they were traveling.<br /><br />A terrible tragedy it was - and I imagine it would have taken only a matter of microseconds (if that).
