I was looking at the Fish Elite 642c and the Humminbird 768 at cabela's the guy there was telling me some info on both. Reason I was looking at these two is one they were both on sale the Fish elite was $349 and the Humminbird was $299, and two I fish mainly rivers that are any were from 1-20 ft deep usually on the lower end and I hear they are not that useful in low water. My main purposes would be deepth, speed, water temp, GPS which both have, and in the deeper water fish finding. Anyone use either of these 2 are they good for my purposes, any problems, or any suggestions about other ones. I don't want to spend alot of money because like I said I fishing mostly in low rivers. The Elite was in color also

Re: sonars

I bought a 642c last year. I use mainly in Lake Erie. I really can't say how it will work in your application but I like mine.
Definitely get a XD card for it. You can save your waypoints and transfer them to a PC. You can also turn on record and record the chart info to a file. Then load the file on your PC and replay it with a free program from Eagle.
