Sorry about your thumb. The correct score card for any plumbing job is how many trips to the store did you have to make. I think my record low was 3.
The best advise I ever got was from the lady at the hardware store: Rule #1 of DIY plumbing is fill your gas tank.

I can agree to that!... even if you're a pro-plumber! When going to a job I frequently ask myself "is this a 1,2,or 3 trip to the hardware store job?" It seems that I NEVER have everything needed to complete a job... (plumber/professional handyman).

My brother is a carpenter and he always says, "Plumbing isn't very complicated, but only a plumber can do it."

Been there and if you have a really deep sink everything is that much harder. Disposals are a cake walk to replace compared to faucets. Real frustration for me was replacing the motor on my $1000 diswasher twice. Holy hanna is that frustrating. No more GE appliances for me.

I hear ya Bubba...

My thumb is just now scabbing over from the last time I bled out.

I really only get frustrated when I smash my favorite nose picking finger (left pointer if you are wondering).

(We are pretty much all guys here right:confused:)

(I don't talk like that in mixed company;))

Im sure the thumb is the worst digit to injure. You cannot help painfully bending or try to use it afterward unless you bandage your whole hand up like a useless round club:D.

Your new faucet should have come with an extension to tighten down the backing nuts. Tape this tool to the inside of your cabinet for next time. And yes, contractors like myself carry the proper tools, thats why we cost so much;)

How's that old saying go? Something like 'when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail'.

Sorry Bubba.
