When you pour the foam in through the hole, the foam will expand just in the area that it covers. It will "billow up" in that area only, it will not expand outward past the surface covered.
Look at the foam to the left in JasonJ's picture, see the voids, and peaks and valley.
That why I elected to pour the foam, level it out then put the floor down on top of the foam.
http://70silverline.250free.com/floorrot.jpg

CC, when I pulled my floor, the foam had expanded up to the floor boards and had uniformly adhered to the bottom of the floor all around. What gives?

If you screw the floor down into the stringers and braces before you put the foam in wouldnt that keep the floor down? Or would you open up another problem with water seeping into the tiny spaces with the screws? Or maybe screw it down just to make sure everything is tight then after everything is done curing remove the screws and fill in the holes with some sealer. Mainly just trying to figure out the easiest way since I will be starting on that real soon.

I would say your original foam was sprayed in under pressure, and who ever was spraying by experience knew how much to spray while rotating the nozzle.
The outfit that I am going to buy has one bad pump but I think I can find a substitute that will work.
You have done an excellent job on your boat and I am just throwing all the "what ifs" at you. I got my fingers crossed that everything goes perfect.

Howdy neighbor! What section of town are you in?

If you predrill and counter sink your flooring screw holes, when you set the floor down onto the stringers the thickened epoxy you use will ooze up thru the screw holes. When you run the screw in, everything will be sealed.

Maybe I should look for a boat builder in my area to pump in the foam. I have those neat holes drilled every two feet. Shouldn't be a big deal for someone set up for it, huh?

Boomy, Just a thought, I paid the roofing contractor a bone, that was spraying the 2 part foam roofs on the new school roof, to fill in my hull. I had to shave it after he was done to fit the floor in place. He told me that because it was a 'closed cell' foam, that it would need to be sealed (with paint) where ever it was cut, (shaved). I approached a local boat builder, commander boats in Perris, Ca., they were not interested in spraying the hull/ bildge areas. The origional foam deteriorated with a gasoline leak in the below deck tank and turned it into a sponge.
I do like the idea of the bored holes and raising up the bow, as well as the disapearing rope, I used pvc pipe w/holes drilled in it. The foam which was 9" thick at the deepest point gave me great confidence in going into rough seas! tightened up the hull as well...sl
