Re: So who has the OLDEST trailer?
I'll play.
I've got a 1959 single axle trailer. Don't remember the brand but it's heavily made from round steel pipe.
It's sitting empty on my lot at the moment. She ain't pretty but is 100% roadworthy.....
UPDATE:
Title says it's a 1959 Pacemaker trailer.
Steel, painted a loooong time ago.
Probably freshwater use only- I bought it from a guy whos grandfather had it at a lake house.
GVW 1,500
Here's a pic. Gotta love the home-made bowstop
While checking out titles, I realized another trailer I own is also a '59.
This ones been in my family since 1970 and has served many functions- originally it was a 3 rail motorcycle trailer but over time morphed into a boat trailer, snowmobile trailer, landscaping trailer and (currently) a flatbed. I remember re-painting it while in high school, and I sandblasted and renovated it again in '08. At that time I upgraded the springs, rims and tires to haul heavier loads.
Title says it's a Lil' Dude, but the plate says Texas Royal Manufacturing.
Only seen saltwater maybe 2- 3 times.
Titled as 3,000 GVW but I doubt it, even with the upgrades.
One other oddball fact about this one- since '70 I don't recall anyone replacing the hubs/bearings/races on this trailer, just re-packing. I guess routine maintenance really works!
