A 1962 14 foot boat trailer
Sold by Montgomery Ward. i need to look to see if it has the Manufacturer on it.
the frame is steel
Tilt trailer
12 inch wheels
It has both leaf springs and shocks.
It also has bunks and rollers. ( they are like andgott's)
The winch cable is steel.
I would love to know the weight capacity of the trailer.

My oldest setup is a 1957 Herter's 16 footer with a "57 35 horse Johnson and its 1957 trailer. It was sold by Herter's of Waseca,Minnesota and mailed to its original owner as a mail order, I bought it in 1998.

Re: So who has the OLDEST trailer?

Until a few months ago my son was still using the 1957 steel trailer that came with the 15 foot, Lonestar King Commander tinnie that my dad bought new in 1957. It (the trailer) all but fell apart within a few months after my dad bought it from being pulled over rough dirt roads in New Mexico. He had it all welded back together and reinforced and sometime in the late '60s or early '70s had to replace the springs. In '59 or '60 I replaced the 8 inch tires and wheels with some 12 inchers off of a Crosley automobile.

Trailers weren't titled back than and later, when it was titled, I don't think the title listed a manufacturers name.

Heaven only knows what the weight limitations are. Or any other specs for that matter.

Always used in fresh water.

Last year my son found a 1960 model tilt trailer he liked better, bought that, and sold dad's old trailer to a guy who is still using it. I suspect it may be good for another 50 years or so.

Come one? Anyone got something better then a 59'? Anyone got stories of an older trailer just dieing?

I have a trailer built in 1955. It came with a wood boat that construction was begun in 1954 and completed in 1955.
I found it on CL free.

Anyone got any other old trailers? I would get a pic of mine up loaded, but currently replacing the drum brakes, so the trailer isn't going out of my garage for a while. If I take a picture of it now, you won't see the trailer, but a ton of other things

Bit aged, but I don't mind having this topic kept running, people make new discoveries all the time and our trailer's get older!
