Haven't mowed in almost a month; been too wet. Nothing but slosh around the pond.

We live in sand. I hadn't mowed for a month until now... The grass came to a screeching halt during the last 3 weeks... Lows being in the 20s........

I live in the same general area as Grub. Down rhe road there's been a gas grill w/o a lid for weeks. Nobody is taking it. When new it must have been pretty nice. There's always stuff by the road for free because they charge way too much to bring it to the transfer site, dump...

At least I can take it to work, throw it on the scrap pile. But not before I drain the oil, and see how long it runs before locking up!

The trunk support shocks I ordered for her car came this morning. I was going to put them on; (Guessed it would be a quick fix; "Snap off! Snap on!"). You got to pull some clips half off to remove them. WRONG! I had to pry the old ones off; then press the new ones on. The new ones work great; but you better step back when it opens. You could lose a Nose.

Can remember seeing a long house trailer blocked our road overnight. They tried to drag it down a mud rut driveway; the wheels ran off the culvert. Great delivery and set up!

Went in the boonies today grouse hunting ,did great. While on a old logging road I met up with a couple of fellas having serious issues with their chev 4x4 .I was on my Polaris ace so no passenger room atall.Took their keys for their camp drove a few miles to it ,found tranny fluid and brought it back to them.Truck seemed to move ok but when I was returning to my suv found them on the road and with a terminally dead truck.(blown tranny). No cell service in the boonies but they had a radio phone and were able to get further help.I will never refuse to help or leave anybody stranded in the bush .

Didn't do much if anything yesterday or today as I had cataract surgery on my port side eye Tuesday.. Go in next Tuesday for the other one. Have been putting it off for three or four years now because I could not think of anytime I could not be active and working hard for a couple of weeks. I finally noticed it was hurting my night driving and knew the time had come. The operation was so simple and painless that now I wish I would have done it when the doctor first suggested it. It is like replacing shock absorbers, you don't realize how bad the old ones gradually got until you drive with the new ones. It is like a whole new world out there now, colors are brighter than I even remember. Just a couple of weeks of light duty. I asked him if I would be able to go deer hunting the end of the month and he told me "OK if I am planning on using that girly 270 I have bragged about." I have been going to him for years and not only is he an avid hunter but his assistant is married to a game warden so we all had a good laugh.

Today I reaffirmed my belief that Mercury engineers didnt make it through kindergarten...the damn engine oil drain plug is under the cavitation plate for crying out loud. To pull the gearcase you need to drain 7 qts of expensive oil. And here I thought they couldn't do anything dumber than the gearcase drain behind the prop...but then I thought years before that the opti was as bad as it could get...

Hopefully I'll get the last three boats wrapped today.

Then it's time to make little pieces out of big pieces as I dont have enough wood cut for the season. I have been stove up pretty much all late summer and fall so I am way behind in the firewood department. Only need 28 cord so it shouldn't be too bad...I have 40 pulp cord sitting here in the log still...

20181109_113338-2268x3024.jpg this is the beast. It keeps the 42x60x14 foot ceilings Morton building at 70 even when it was 29 below outside.

if I dont burn ash wood (go-fer wood) I only need about 16 rick for the season. With the abundance of ash due to the emerald ash borer we go through 25 or so. The ash is just over dry and doesn't burn as long as oak or maple or best is beech. There is a ton of ash around here though. Probably have 3 years of it left. No sense letting it go to waste. It's too bad about that invasive critter. It really has devastated our Woodlands up here. Globalism I guess...

First snowfall fri night .So sat morning I took my 2103 ford edge awd with wintertires to the steepest street in town to see how it handled in the winter. You could see several vehicles had turned around at the bottom choosing not to try this short very steep road. Not even a tire spin!Went up like nobodys business. This rig handles way better than my f150 4x4 ever did in the snow and ice.Got to remind myself it wont stop anybetter and to not get too cocky as we all know how that ends.P.S heated seats are the bomb!

Been outside making a make-shift greenhouse on the patio along with watching games. Was cloudy; middle 40s; a front came through; N wind cutting. Just need to get some heat rigged up.
