I guess this transom failure was due (in part) to rot......

Wasnt that glass supposed to flex though? :D

Wow flashback...

I spent tons of time as a kid on that beach. I recognized the houses in the back ground.

I searched and found more pictures. It seems the boat lost power first. Most, if not all of that damage, is from it spending all night being slammed on the rocks at Higgins Beach.

lots of pictures

Mark, taking swipes at the glass boat guys;):D

Just shooting from the hip here but...

I tend to think that a fella will see signs of major problems and address them before catastrophic failure (or just park the boat). You know, stuff like transom coming apart, cracks in the hull, poor performance due to water log, major leaks....

Example: The fella I bought my Sea Nymph from bolted on a Merc 50 right before I bought it. He couldn't actually tighten down the bolts as the transom was so soft. Well, I bought the boat and decided to replace the transom. Good move - here is my transom as I pulled (wiped) it out...

Another fella who might have bought and gone right out to run this boat may have very well lost an engine, boat, maybe even life and limb:eek:
