I will be buying a new inflatable and motor this season. Because I will be mounting and dismounting the motor regularly, weight of the motor is more important than speed of the boat. There are several choices in the 2 to 3.5 hp range. Any opinions?

Are you looking at new 4-strokes or used 2-stroke?
A used 2-stroke sounds like the best motor for your application. I would buy the first sub $300 name brand good condition 2-stroke motor you come across. If you don't like it you can always get your money back since their easy to sell.

Sorry, I should have spelled it out better. I want a new 4 stroke. Several brands have a 3.5 hp, Honda has a 2hp.

Haven't heard anything bad about any new 4-stroke. Tohatsu is probably the best bang for the buck. With the drag of an inflatable its not going to push you very fast and I doubt it will get you on plane.
