over the course of 10 hours or so if I don't block up it slowly drops to half or less tilt. Not consistent where it ends up but more often than not 90% drop sometimes half or so.

I topped off fluid. Any other ideas?

Sure, a leaking PTT piston seal will do that. See if you can get a rebuild kit for the PTT and if special tools (ie spanner) are needed.

Yes, an internal leak. Consider it "blowby" in the PTT cylinder. The check valves could also be an issue. A rebuild kit usually has them too.

agree, either cross-port checks leaking or cylinder seals leaking. being a 40 year old cylinder, going with the seals probably broke down

Ok i did see that before i knew what it was. Turned clockwise to see then turned back about the same so maybe not all the way in the running position. I'll go adjust now. Thanks.

Spent several hours running around the lake yesterday so she had a fair amount of trimming. Got home about 1300 and as of 0700 it has barely dropped. Used to drop full in a couple hours.

A second day out with similar trimming and it dropped completely once home and off the trailer lock.

It aint gonna get better over time. There are rebuild kits, do some searching. The O-rings on the pump are easy, maybe try that first. But I believe it's usually the teflon slipper seal in the piston that fails. I had a very difficult time installing this without a special slipper seal tool from Mercury.

My 88 100hp has been doing that for years. I just got used to it. It's not really worth it to me to go through the hassle fixing. As long as it tilts up and down, that's all I really need.
