Re: Skiing behind a 25hp

Yeah, my kids learned to ski behind a 14' wood semi-V skiff with a 25 HP Evinrude. I think it was easier for them than behind a big motor, because it pulled with just the right amount of force to get them up without pulling the handle out of their hands. Of course, it wouldn't have pulled a 200lb jumbo, but it was just right for them.

...and "jumbo" is a lot more common now.

Average man -
1960: 5'8", 166.3 lbs
2002: 5'9.5", 191 lbs

Average woman -
1960: 5'3", 140.2 lbs
2002: 5'4", 164.3 lbs

...so we're getting fatter, but not really taller - so not only heavier to pull, but more drag through the water too.

Getting bigger means these border line boats, like the one here with 25hp, is much more border line.
But the 135 hp boat I just sold? Come on! It would pull Jared before Subway!

Just put some smart tabs on there and you will be able to get up on a fat slalom ski.

I can't disagree with you there...

If you can't pull them up straight ahead, just do an angle start and get a running start. Works great if you do it right and should have no trouble with 25hp.
