Incidents involving alligators are very rare, but people, children, dogs swimming, snorkling,or playing around grassy river banks, golf course ponds in coastal areas are tempting fate. Gators will hang around boats or docks where people are fishing, hoping they will get a free meal, especially if they've been fed. Gators are curious, patient, generally slow moving, more active in the early evening and at night. Good Luck!

My wife always wants to take a vacation to the ocean. I do not like the ocean. I love water, but do not like the ocean. I don't swim anyplace where there is another creature large enough to drag me to the bottom and eat me. That's why I stay in the midwest This thread just further re-inforces my stance. Sharks, gators, giant squids, loch-ness monsters, frankenfish.....just makes my skin crawl.

We boat a lot in Florida, and I feel a lot safer with the snakes and alligators than I do on I-95 driving down there. They're really more a part of the natural scenery than any real threat. Good Luck!

NO, all lakes do not have snakes! or alligators!

We have neither up here. After reading this, our mosquitos won't seem so bad next summer.

I like the sign! Ummm, no sir, I'm just staying on the OPPOSITE side of the road-Thank You Very Much. And, I might even stay smack dab in the middle.

We skied with gators around all the time in Louisiana (Blind River). We just stayed in the middle. There was no sense tempting fate.

They say that in the next 5 to 10 years the pythons snakes will almost double in size.

They say that cobras are also multiply in Florida when the hurricanes
destroyed the snake aquariums, and they all got loose.

My Son works in an RV Park called
( East lake Tohopekaliga ) just below Orlando Florida.

This winter they found a Python over 12ft long in a water drain because of the cold weather this year.

They had duck and geese being killed and did not know why until, they found the snake.

It came out in the new on TV and was removed.
