Ski Brendella is it worth it?

Hello guys new to the site. I picked up a 1996 Ski Brendella for $1500 without really doing my research. It appears to be pretty clean minus age related issues which appear to be cosmetic. Let’s assume it runs well the stringers don’t need to be replaced. Is it worth putting any money into it? Is this a boat anyone is going to want all said and done? It’s a 20’ closed Bow pro comp with 350 magnum.

Generally, there is not a lot of money flipping old boats, especially 25 year old boats. If you like the boat and want to fix it up for yourself, spending money on it might be worth it. I would not put money into it expecting to recover it on resale.

You will have a very limited base to sell it to , skiers and maybe wakeboarders if ballast bags can be added. Boat was built and designed for one thing , skiing . It has no deadrise and will hammer you in any sort of chop over 1' . I would run it as is and put as little money into it as possible. Put it up for sale as you are using it , IMHO in todays market , as long as it's solid , it's worth 3 -5G depending on location. Odds are it's solid as long as it left the factory properly caulked , this type of boat does not see a lot of aftermarket parts screwed into it as in drilled holes improperly or not sealed at all.

I actually thought of buying something similar as an inexpensive ski boat. If for personal use yes. If you think you are going to flip it and get paid probably not. The upholstery if you have to pay for it is a killer.

The carpet in the first pic looks newer it may have been re-decked and hiding rot. If you can restore the gel via buffing , get it running good, and get upholstery looking decent, in the spring maybe $5-7 k boat depending on where you are.

It was purely designed for skiing/wakeboard. If that’s what you want it for go for it. All ski boats like that usually get the crap beat out of them. With out knowing a lot more about the boat no one can say if it’s worth putting any money into. It’s not a boat I would put money into in order to sell and make a little money. I suggest if you can sell the boat for what you paid and move on.
