I have a 115 evinrude with 1/2 of the skeg missing...am I going to have any issues? Is this something that must be fixed?

Shoud be ok, just make sure it's not bent and maybe take a file and smooth out where it's broken. Also paint it to prevent corrosion.

1/2" should be much of a problem. If you're concerned about it, check out a Skeg Guard, just screw it on to help protect skeg. Good Luck!

I bought my boat 15 years ago with a piece of the skeg ground off. No problems.

File down the rough edges so water flows over it nice and let it go, won't hurt a thing, it is there to hit before the prop so now your prop is more exposed but as far as performance you will never know if it there or not.

The main function of the skeg is to protect your prop. A SkeGGard is a lot cheaper than a new prop and a lot of insurance against sitting in the middle of the lake with a busted prop.

Just like insurance. If nothing happens, you don't need it; but if. . . . . . . .
