Someone gave me a Dutton Lainson 2 speed winch Model 1800a
Im wondering if it is ok to use on my boat, i have heard mix responses on other forums.
My boat according to NADA is 2000lbs add fuel and gear id say around 2500lbs
The trailer is bunks only and weighs about 450lbs.
The winch is rated at 1800lbs is this gonna be strong enough to pull the boat on the trailer, the trailer is bunks only no rollers and our ramp you have to retreive kinda deep, atleast water to top of fenders.
This winch has the strap and the clip on the end is double straped not just tied to the end of the belt.
The winch on there now im not sure what its rated for but is a rope thats been tied a few times cause it broke from the previous owner. I've never had any problems with the rope but i do know the clip on the end that connects to the bow hook as seen better days.
When i retreive i have maybe 2-3 feet it has to pull the boat up to the bow stop.
Thanks
