Hi there, I'm new to the forum, and recently got my hands on a boat that to me looks like the old sidewinders! very rough, been sat outside for 5 years not covered... Floor is rotten. motor wouldnt turn over but i finally got it to roll over, Its a old 6 cylinder mercury 90hp, i dont know much about it. but I have a question as to how I could go about filling the transom drain plug hole with fibreglass and if this is a good idea? because the brass drain tube that was previously in it broke and i think it would just be alot easier to fill the hole and not worry about the drain plug. I can upload pictures later if you want to see. Thanks guys!

Welcome to the Forum!!!!

We love pics and it gives us an idea what you are working with. With pics there is no guessing about what you are referring to or misinterpretation. As you will see on the other threads there is a lot of useful information that can be provided.

Now getting on to your project, sounds like you got a nice boat to work on. Reference below URL for help on fiberglass. As for the drain plug, I wouldn't recommend it as you want to be able to get the water out that may get in and not cause you issues down the road. JMHO. I am sure others will chime in as well

The drain plug is the least of your worries, the entire transom, floor and stringers will most likely need to be replaced.
