Re: Show us pics of your Hurricane

Was anyone else not real impressed with the gauges that came on the boat? How hard was it to install the Command Link? Once you install the Command Link, do the other gauges become inoperative? Did you leave the other gauges in place? I'm very interested in putting one in..........will probably be my next purchase.

Command Link was all plug and play. Very easy to install, and also gives real time direct engine CPU data on water temp, oil pressure, RPM, volts, hours, maintenance schedule, and other cool engine stats. The system also allows you to interface like a LAN network, GPS, and other Command Link components like Speedo and fuel. It's crazy cool. When I got my boat I was like " where the hell is the temp gauge? " I removed the stock tach and replaced with no modifications the command link tach. Once I win the lottery I plan on replacing my depth/fish finder with a chart/gps plotter, and interfacing the Command Link system. With a GPS it can calculate in real time how much fuel you consume at a given speed to a given destination. Andy Jr. at SIM Yamaha is the bomb. He will help via e-mail or phone. Great customer service!!! http://www.simyamaha.com/ here is a pic of my helm with command link, and some other mods i did this spring. (added a sub and totally re-rigged all the crappy dealer rigging and electrical). I've been biting my tongue posting issues I had with my boat in regards to some factory faults/skimps, and dealer rigging issues I had with my boat, all discovered while re-wiring and rigging my electrical systems. If anyone is interested in the letter I wrote Godfrey and the dealer PM me... I will not post on iboats... The dealer did nothing, not even a simple apology, but Godfrey was willing to correct anything and make sure I was happy. I agree $5k for 50 extra HP seems insane! I totally understand! But the F150 is a great match for our boats! Sorry this pic thread is turning into a new subject!!!!! It's just nice to chat with other Hurricane owner, and share info/stories!!!! I'm about to hit the lake, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

cuda... you got it back on track with more photos so its all good. :p

I`m with you, just glad there are more Hurricane owners on here to chat with.

The tach you have is the same as the Smart Monitor I added for my Merc with all the gauges you mentioned. The only downside is now I obsess with tracking/monitoring all of the things I never knew before on my old engine.

I don't think it's a difficult setup but I had mine installed from the dealer (around $700 CDN installed) but I also had a speedo/water temp/depth finder sensor installed as well. Still worth having as its a digital readout direct from the computer onboard the engine and is very accurate.

And for the record, the cost to go from 150 - 175HP was $2K....I paid that but the extra $$$ for 200HP, I wouldn't have spent... I just got lucky with an amazing dealership that wanted to make sure I had my boat on time.

I know I would've been pleased with the 150HP and the 175HP was me checking with the wife on what she'd let me get away with... which worked out :eek:

I gots to get me one of them things! Way Cool! Great photos! We have the same Faria gauges :(.

I was exactly the same when we got our boat........where is the oil and temp gauge??? I have the GPS, but I figure that would require more difficult wiring to connect to the command link. I've already dealt with Andy at SIM, and he is my primary source for Yamaha maintenance supplies. In fact, I just got a package from him yesterday (I like the free gifts he includes (got a nice mini Yamaha flashlight this time) ;)).............I agree great service at SIM!

I guess its too late to ask for the Command Link for father's day......maybe my birthday???

Do you have a trolling motor? Why the dual battery setup?

NelsonQ, I also apologize for hijacking the photo thread.........maybe we should move this discussion outside?

LOL,

bear 69cuda,

I have that exact same sub on mine, just installed it a month ago. I will take pics and post.

It was a great addition to my system and it just gives me one more reason to want to get out on the water.:D

My new sleeping quarters, and sun pad! And I thought a deck boat couldn't get any better! I can't wait to sleep out on the lake!

samagy16: The sub makes a huge difference in my stereo system! I also added an ipod docking station...

Hey Bear, like the water-tent, good idea...

BJennings79, that's the model I like for what I do here in the lagoon, dipping shrimping off the front all night, comfy seats to boot... Nice, I just wish they still made that model in a center console..

hopefully I can get pics of my 88 up in the next month or so.. I hate to put it out there now in it's current disassembled state... :(

Pics in any state should be posted. We'd love to see what you've done and what you're doing (and of course its final state)

RJ she looks like a fun project and hopefully you'll soon have her splashed where all Hurricanes should be; out on the water.

These pics will help you appreciate the after state even more.

Never seen a center console Hurricane before, but with limited #s up here in Canada, its not surprising.

Keep up the progress pics.... we love them!!!

Re: Show us pics of your Hurricane

Ok, so we spent most of the week/weekend last week on the lake.

I've the friends of mine who are all at the lake with boats, we all own Hurricanes. Here is the lineup I snapped from 50 feet away (floating on the lake on a tube to capture this pic)

From left to right..... (ignoring the bowrider hitched to the far left which I believe is a Four Winns 170)

- 2002 Hurricane Fundeck GS170 - 2001 115HP Johnson Ocean Pro
- 2002 Hurricane Fundeck 228R - 2002 200 HP Evinrude Ficht
- 2010 Hurricane Sundeck Sport SS188 - 2010 200 HP Mercury Optimax
- 2004 Hurricane Fundeck GS201 - 2004 190HP 4.3L Mercruiser

RJ, we don't have gators, but in the event that a random one should show up, we put the kids on the tubes first.....They're young and fearless

Yeah, we only get June thru Sept to really enjoy them so we have to make the best of them.

I'll have to post some winter ice fishing photos in the winter :(

Ice fishing just sounds way cold for my thined out Florida blood... When you say ice fishing, on that same lake that all the boats are on now.. Wow, stark contrast of a vision there...
