Should I reupholster?

Hi folks I'm new to these forums and have a quick question. I recently purchased a 1985 Sea Sprite Mark II , the hull motor and drive are all in excellent condition however the upholstery has the wear and tear of a 25 year old boat. The floor and carpet were replaced by the previous owner already. Is it worthwhile to have it reupholstered? How much would something like this cost? It has two lounge seats, two jumpers, engine cover and another flip up cover that runs the width of the transom. I live in the western NY area and only paid $1500.00 for the boat so what are your opinions redo or just enjoy as is?

I heard one quote in here of $1100.00 to do driver, passenger and bench seating in a ski/ runabout boat.

I am sure it is all about how complex the job would be for the shop to do. Get a quote, you may get lucky. Just check those references first.

Another option is to look for wrecks. We have a couple of marinas and boat yards around here that sell used stuff. If you can color match the stuff, you may save some money. But generally the stuff I have seen is in the same shape as I'm going to replace.

Use it for awhile and then decide.
My interior was horrible but was good enough to get by for a season.
I did it all myself this spring, it took 3 weeks everyday after work.
I put about a G into into it and wow.

Hello LMS..

Seasons quickly coming to an end.. If you like boating with your family then put Bath Sheets over your seats and HAVE FUN..( you should have them no matter what over your new seats if you decide to replace the covers ).

You will find that more enjoyable.. Trust me..

Now you tell me about the sheet thing

I rebuilt my seat bases, jump seats, lounge seats and dog house to save money.

Don't get the upholstery done here as it's $2800

A semi retired journeyman upholsterer would be your best bet if you can find one. I'm still looking for one locally that's old school.

b2b loungers are 300 a pop to recover...(formed seats...not just single panel cushions)
this does not include rebuilding the seats and that might just possibly have to be done

the jumpers are about 60 a cush.
and the sun pad is around 150.

dyi with a good deal on materials....under 200.

I reworked the interior of my Four Winns using vinyl paint (white) on the side panels and new seats from Wise. Cost was about $690.
