There is no shifter cable visible on or near the engine. Is there a method of shifting gears on a TR228 Mercruiser utilizing the reverse lock-out mechanism (which is the only movement near the transom when the ignition is on and engine not running and the shift lever is moved from reverse to neutral to forward)?

It has an electric motor that shifts the transmission.

From what manual was the diagram taken? My drive assembly is a 1978 model.
