I am looking into changing my throttle/shifter control assembly. How do you know if there is enough travel on the control to correctly operate the gear changes. I cannot locate the original shifter # or brand for my boat. It is a 1988 Bayliner 2556 with a 5.7 OMC and has two stations.

The engine sets the distance. The remote is built with adequate surplus to allow for most anything.
