Shaft extension how hard is it?

How difficult is it to install a shaft extension on a 25hp Johnson? Is it something I can do myself or should I pay someone 75 dollars and hour to install it. I have a long transom and a short shaft motor. I think a shaft extension is my only option other than cutting the transom down. 75 dollars an hour adds up quick.

It's not hard...you just need to remove the lower unit and add the extension parts in. I'd definitely go with the extension as opposed to buying the long shaft parts and adding them...that would require a lot more work.

What year 25 Johnson??? Makes a big difference.

Yep, the BRP site does show an extension kit for the two-stroke, twin cylinder for that year. But they don't show one for the 4-stroke or two-stroke,three cylinder.

It an easy conversion with the kit.
