Not sure what happened to him, should I not be posting in here?
What do you think of the singer 211 does it have the walking feet?
Technically it is his thread, but you and he have the same question. Are you guys friends? Neighbors perhaps?

The Singer 211 is a walking foot/compound feed and is one of the machines listed earlier in this thread. I see a few on eBay with motor/table for $600-$800. Decent price @ $600 IMO.

No I don’t know him, I just have been thinking about getting a good machine for a while now. I am doing some restoration on my 78 Thompson and figure I will probably be doing the upholstery after my transom and floor project is done.
what would I want to look for, if I go look at the 211 in person? Is there anything that typically goes bad on them or anything like that. Are needles and that kind of stuff readily available?
Is the 211 reversible, is that an important feature?

I am not an expert on the Singer line of industrial machines, and I did not look at any when I was buying. So, you will have to do some Googling to verify the specific features of the 211G157, which I believe is what you mentioned.

Critical features would be adjustable stitch length and reverse.
