Severe corrosion on v4 eagle block

[Thriller1980]

I have a case of severe corrosion on my project V4 Eagle block.
Its located beneath the upper engine mounts. I think this is a common problem so
I thought I should ask you if you have encountered it and what did you do.

I am contemplating cutting out the plate section and welding in a new piece, then having the base of the block decked approx
0.005 to clean it up for the rebuild.

What do you think?

Never had this happen to me but try it and see what happens. Could you post a pic of it ??
