I have a mercruiser 454 gen 4 I think.
Engine tag serial#b830792
Block cast #1401544
Head cast#14092360
I'm changing the cam and need to know about valve adjustment and engine timing and so much more.Some say #16 is the right manual but it's says gen 5 and up.
Which manual do I get or where can I find all the info at?
This is my first post and I'm a new member.
I have a 1986 Baja force 250 with 454.It had many probs when I bought it so I ended up buying a parts engine to get it back to original.but the top end needs replacing due to previous mechanic installing the wrong cam that doesn't have a mechanical fuel pump lobe and it gets worse from there so that's why I bought a parts engine to fix it back but I decided to put a little better flat tappet cam in.

I'm having to replace cam and top end parts and gaskets.So I need to know about valve adjustment procedure and timing procedures and steps to go about it.
