My in-laws love their boats (17-foot and 15-foot Boston Whalers with Mercury outboards) but aren’t particularly mechanically inclined.
They’re currently paying a local mechanic good money to haul/winterize, launch in the spring, do yearly maintenance, and address issues as they arise.
Unfortunately the guy doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing. I’m here visiting and one boat is suffering from stale gas and bad adjustments on both the shift and throttle cables. The other boat appears to have a failed raw water pump impeller. It also took him three tries to diagnose a failed alternator that I was able to troubleshoot over the phone.
I live in South Carolina and can’t take care of this all for them myself year-round, but I want to leave them in good hands. If anyone knows a reputable local mechanic willing to come to Mashpee, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
