Seat stuck to pedestal

My seat was stuck to the pedestal on the boat I bought used a pipe wrench to free it.. want to put the seat on a shorter pedestal...any suggestions on what lube to use to keep it from getting stuck again .. also don't want it so lose it come off while I'm sitting on it ...

Grease. Any marine grease really. If its sinched tight enough it wont just fly off when you're in choppy seas. We use it on all USCG boats.
