Looking at used sea ray boats. Narrowed search down to 2 boats. One is a 2009 195 with a 5.0 TKS. The other is a 2007 with a 4.3 MPI. they are otherwise similarly equipped.

I understand the 205 is one foot longer and 6 inches wider. I like the color of the 195 better and it is 2 years newer and has the V8 motor. Should I give more consideration to the size difference?

The larger the boat the better the ride, this is due to in most cases its heavier. More weight means better ride, but also means more fuel burn

I think they're both the same HP so the 5.0 isn't buying you anything but more weight. Definitely kick the carb habit and go MPI and the larger boat. I know someone who has the 205. I like the boat. My 2cents

Drive both if you can, and see which you prefer. Larger is usually better in terms of ride and stability. What boating area are you in? Do you face windy/rough conditions often? If so bigger is preferred. I have a Four Winns H-200 which is 20'9" long, I would not have a smaller boat where I am due to the conditions. Even with the smaller 4.3 V6 which is what I have.

How many people Do you want to take out? If it’s 4 or less the 195 will be fine

I have a 2004 sea ray 200 sport which I think was rebagged in 2006 and 2007 as the 205 sport, before they tweaked the swim pad and rear end.
ive had this boat 5 years and absolutely love it. the size is perfect 6-8 ppl skiing swimming etc is very comfortable.
I think the extra space in the bow and behind the driver and passenger seats in the 205 is worth it.

what you are towing it with may have Also influence this As the 195 is lighter and narrower storing inside.

6-8 people. Mix of adults and kids.
