Screw on flushing kit?

I am interested buying screw on flushing kit for my brother 2012 mercury 60HP on tracker pro guide boat.

Does anybody know it is really working? thank you, cal s.

Flushing ports and kits really work well as an alternative to using muffs, on that engine probably will need to flush with engine on as to have a opened thermostat to rinse well cylinder head.

fwiw, i just bought the same kit for my newly acquired 1998 150hp Optimax. so far so good, my greatest worry is that it would start leaking while i'm out on the water and thereby overheating the engine. i used teflon tape on the threads for the best seal, and made sure that the original plastic "nut" that was there will always be on the boat if the kit does fail on the water.

i like my 1997 Yamaha's flushing hose system so much better than this system, but i hate dealing with muffs and greatly prefer hose flushing. if i have any trouble with the kit, i'll let you know. if anyone else who reads this post ever had any issues, i sure would appreciate you passing that information on.

btw, i did see your more recent post, but didn't actually see the kit on your motor.

it's imoprtant to determine whether you can run the motor on a hose flush kit or not. Generally, if water isn't coming up from the bottom through the water pump, you fry the water pump if you run it.
So for the built-in hose on a 2003 Yamaha, you don't run the motor, you just hook it up and let it the water pressure do its thing. (so what do you do about the thermostats not opening?)
Lots of people don't know this and lots run the motor. My guess is that this is usually when they just pulled the boat out of the water, so it's still wet enough to survive. Or they just got lucky.

It's possible that some built-in flushing systems overcome this; I'm just saying, don't assume.

Thank you for clearing that up. so all the outboards motors have thermal stat does not matter what HP it is. Thanks again I will tell him not to run the motor, I do not know about this either,,,

Very small portables don't have thermostats, to have the flushing issue clear, check owners manual to see if that engine could be flushed with on or off engine. On the other hand if you have poor water pressure on hose, that tmo won't open at all, in that particular case use muffs...
