Re: Scan Of The Week

I really liked the SS since it looks exactly like my '72 used to look (I assume). So I fixed it up a little bit with my Coreldraw.

Re: Scan Of The Week

OK here we are at week two so lets do two more:D

The first scan was sent to me by Bananaboater. This is the first Starcraft lapstrake aluminum ad from a 1959 Motor Boat magazine. Thanks Albert!

The second scan is from my collection. A generic marine aluminum ad from a 1966 Popular Boating magazine.

Re: Scan Of The Week

Sorry folks! I got lured into a Starcraft Chat Cult by some parolees and forgot to update this thread this past Sunday:eek:

I thought I'd change things up a little this week. Here's a scan of my recently aquired (SP?) 1964 Mercruiser accessories catalog. It came with a 64 Mercruiser Maintenance and Owner's manual that I will post up another day. Some of this stuff is cool, and other parts are good info for all you Type1 ABC owners out there. This pamplet clears up some mysteries like what to call our engines (ieType1 a, b, or c) and the prop chart is really helpful.

Since I know there's some sort of unspoken rule that you folks have to see at least one boat picture, I've added a two page 1966 Price List. This is NOT to be shared with SWMBO for any reason WHATSOEVER!

Continued due to too many pics..............

Re: Scan Of The Week

14' Seafarer Fishing Boat, $310. Makes me sick to think about what I paid for mine in 2003.

However, what cost $310 in 1966 would cost $1742.17 in 2003, but I guess I did OK because I just looked it up & paid about $1644.

Musta been on sale....yeah, right.

Schreck, I haven't seen anything in brochures but then again I think the big stuff was 70's era and I don't have any of those brochures or ads.

Rick, my 66 brochure shows the io with the 60 hp 4 cilynder

Re: Scan Of The Week

OK we'll start this week's scans with an ad from a 68 Motor Boating Magazine. Anyone want to name the boat?

68MotorboatingAd.jpg

The next scan is from the 67 brochure. This is the first year Starcraft made the Islander. I'm pretty sure this boat replaced the Sunchief (Liquid Limo). Note this boat is identical to the 66 Sunchief in construction with the exception being the cuddy. They even used the same windshield and the hull and topside paint are the same color.

67Islander.jpg

And from the small 71 brochure is the "all our boats page". For all you SS fanatics, note the SS only came in 16' length and they offered the Offshore model (just about the same boat) in 18'. Both boats were available as early as 69. I don't have anything for 68 so I can't say.

Re: Scan Of The Week

NB it looks like a Starchief or a Holiday...considering that you posted it I will go ahead and guess Starchief:D Hard to gauge the length from that pic but it looks like 21'.
