sounds good to me! if i could get shad i would.
shad can be a little tough to keep alive, and live bait is really what is best.
where you going to get live shad? if your going to catch them yourself, the spot you catch them in will be the best spot to catch fish. the monsters will be sitting under the school.

The marina we use has them. I have used the small minnows but I haven't tried the larger shad. I may buy a net and try my hand at catching my own, as I see people doing this all the time. Thanks for the info.

hey one more thing! if the shad are in thick schools you can drop a large treble hook down and snag one, then just throw it out weightless and hang on! striper will be close and they are not hook shy, so dont worry about making the shad look good on the hook, just snag & throw!
i've done it, it works! good luck.

I'll give that a try. I've seen them thick like that late in the evenings.
