From what I've seen of your posts, Medoc, I'm not sure that you really want me to divulge it. However, your stance on the 2nd amendment gives me hope. ;)

Here in Australia gun ownership is fairly heavily regulated.
I dont on a gun and I have never even touched one, except an air rifle.
I dont know anyone that owns a gun, If they do own one then my friends do not dispay them or flaunt them.
Women do not carry handguns in their bags.
Yes, we have crime, and gun related crime.
However I sleep well at night knowing that the most people dont carry firearms so I have a good chance of not getting shot tomorrow.

achris,

Regardless of the reasons, violent crime is decreasing in the US and rising in the UK. That is a fact, so it is definitely not as simple as you believe either.

BTW, welcome back . . . :)

Boom, I do....Though we bump heads on some issues, (well maybe alot), I am not as "Lefty" as my posts portray & it a'int a troll & it a'int no B.S......I would truly like to know the what the significance the year 1962 represents......Speak & I will listen.....& I will listen without rebuttal....The floor is yours....JK

achris....I have not seen you post for quite some time & it is good to know you are still with us....The truth is ...most 'mericans love our hardware....This country is mighty, but still young & born in/of revoloution....I don't know enough about the process of how Austrailia became independant.....I do know that the U.S.A. was forged from men & women who sought a better life free from the tyranny of a bunch of people who were 3,000 miles away, and didn't think that we were in a position to do anything about it or govern ourselves.....And were proven wrong! Our forefathers were not willing to have their destiny dictated to them......Most Americans would prefer their government not to abridge their individual rights....Especially the ones written by those great men.....I'm sorry but, if guns were outlawed for law abiding citizens, it would give free reign to those who would choose to live outside the law, and thay could act with impugnity(sp) save for the protection of the local authorities.....My dad,(rest his soul) used to have a bumper sticker on his old Chevy panel....."When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"....I truly believe that most law abiding people would only use a firearm as a last resort....I, (WE) still want that choice.....Good to see you back.....Your input is always greatly appreciated....Did you really mean "****"? :D Tell us how you really feel :) ....JK

Achris....nice language, and a true indication of your mentality (or lack thereof). I for one am not glad to see you back or respect your screwed up opinion one bit! Anyway, I have to admitt that I have not studied violent crimes in other countries and quite frankly don't think comparing the US to other countries warrants any kind of debate. For any real kind of comparison, everything else would have to be equal....which it is not. Therefore, back to guns in the US. As someone pointed out earlier, cocaine, POT, and other drugs are illegal, yet criminals still have lots of them. I don't think they stole them from me or my 83 year old father. So I have to believe that criminals can and will get guns, even if they are purchased and smuggled into this country from over-seas. What I do know is that I have firearms, and most of my neighbors have firearms. There are many of us that are responsible citizens and homeowners. I have to believe that criminals realize that some areas of the country have a high population of armmed citizens, try to break into our house...you will be killed !
Take guns from law abiding citizens...all you will do is create unlawful citizens...by your standard, by our standard, we are only refusing to give up the rights we were born with. If I had to, I believe I could obtain an unregistered firearm just like crooks do. I hope I never have to do that....but I just might.

Come on people, ease up on the name calling. That don't prove nothing but getting your post edited.
If I want to own a gun, I will.
If the criminal wants a gun, he will get it.
Plain and simple.

Just another thought: keep a close eye on which government idiots try to take away your rights. Make sure they never get re-elected. If you live in an area where something like this is going on...call your representatives, email them, let them know this is NOT what you want.

There must be trust among citizens to live everyday. Guns is not the only weapon used to kill. Take away a gun and another form of weapon will be used. How many woman have been beaten to death by their lovers fists?

While driving I trust oncoming drivers/citizens to stay in their lane. If not, a head on accident is sure to cause immediate death. Over 40 thousand deaths are related to vehilce accidents each year. What do we do? We force auto mfgs. to make the cars safer while we do nothing to make drivers safer.

With all the guns here state side, I feel more comfortable in my house than I do on the highway.

Police cannot be everywhere to protect and serve. If the time comes when an intruder comes into my home, dialing 911 is not going to help one bit! A pull of a trigger is quicker than dialing the 9 on the phone.

More states are allowing residents to carry a firearm with a permit. This maybe the reason why our gun crimes are going down.

I agree with SBN, name calling should not be tolerated. It tends to run members off that can be an asset to this board.

Re: san fran gun ban

Yep - ban all guns and everything will be OK...Yeah, right.

We see how well keeping drugs and illegal aliens out of the country is working. The criminals would have guns again - if they ever got rid of them - in no time at all.

Face it: the only guns that would be gotten rid of are those belonging to the honest, law-abiding citizen who has them REGISTERED, so that the benevolent government will know who to take them from.

-----------------

How come none of the people who are anti-gun ever put a sign in the window stating: "THIS IS A GUN-FREE HOME"?
Afraid to stand by your principles?
