So last season I had the wonderful experience of blowing up the upper gears in my Alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. I have replaced the unit since then, and am now left with a broken outdrive sitting in my garage. Any ideas on what I could do with this thing to recoup some of the costs? surely it must be worth something..

looking into rebuilding the lower unit and trying to sell it...
certainly not looking to rebuild the uppers (I hear that is difficult)

Some details:
The gears disintegrated due loss of gear oil via a leak in the shift shaft housing in the lower unit. The skeg is also broken on the lower unit. These two issues compromise the worth of the lower.

Scrap yard... no oil or leaking seals likely ruined all the bearing/shaft surfaces inside the unit. Also the metal debris circulating thru unit (bothshare same oil) likely pitted the remaining gears if still intact.
