I'm looking for a part number for a safety lanyard switch. Is anyone able to look this up for me? Thanks!

Any marine store should have what you need to be compliant, Typicaly a 2 wire cut into the purple wire from the ign switch

I bought a universal one similar to the ones in the link. It fits the mounting hole perfectly, however the cavity in behind is too small and it wont fit. The housing on the original one is smaller and rectangular in shape. Can't seem to find the correct replacement.

Based on this is seems you are looking for a switch that is unique to your boat model, not a VP 5.0 GXI engine. Suggest posting the make / model of the boat and if available a picture of the switch. And than someone with a similar boat or restricted cavity can assist.

I agree, it looks very similar. Can't tell if the hole size is the same.

I would suspect that yours and this one are not only the same item but made in the same factory somewhere in the east. Given its free returns (at least that is what I see on my account) its no risk. And if not, it’s a $30 risk. Go for it :)

The new Sierra switch from Amazon fits perfectly.... Only problem is that it functions just the opposite from the original.... It's a closed circuit with the lanyard key removed, and with the lanyard key in place, there is no power to the ignition... :(

Bummer and a quick look at the info did not provide if OC or CC type.

Here is a universal one, looks short but there is a dimension chart so you can validate before you buy link.
