Saddle tanks question

I was going to replace the fuel tank in my '77 srv240, but it became apparent that taking it out would be nearly impossible. I now plan to scrap it, maybe cut part out for room, and use saddle tanks. My question is, if you have saddle tanks, can you have them connected to each other with a t joint with one fuel line to the engine so the fuel level stays the same in each tank? Are there safety issues? Legal issues? Seems to me it would work fine, but want to double check. Thanks

Nope,... Ya can't do it, 'cause it don't work....

You need a switchable valve, not a "T" to make it work right...

Re: Saddle tanks question

sorry, the last gas tank I installed was in a drag boat. It was a spun aluminum one with fuel draining out the bottom, presumed all tanks were so simple. I see now that there is a "straw" on top hitting the bottom and the fuel needs to be pumped up. Had hoped to avoid listing and or changing the trim tabs constantly. I got a great deal on 2 27gallon tanks and also bought a 20 gallon tank I was thinking of mounting as a reserve.

Ayuh,... There's also an anti-siphon valve in the elbow at the top of the tanks...
Due to differences in resistence, the fuelpump will draw from Only 1 tank, without a selector valve...

I run 2 tanks on 1 engine with valves. Normally I run off of both tanks at the same time.

But as Mr. Bond says the draw off of each tank isn't the same, one will drain a little quicker than the other leaving you eventually drawing off an empty tank. One thing I have noticed after shutting down is the tanks have a tendency to almost equil themselves in fuel I assume due to siphoning. No anti-siphon valves on my tanks.
