rustoleum paint

ok i have been researching this site and others trying to find out the best mixing formulas for using rustoleum for topside paint..also i want to make sure i have the steps in order as far as prepping my hull for paint..i have a few scratches that need to be filled...can anyone please help me out and break it all down for me..the more details the better..sand paper grit..wet or dry..methods for primer and paint application..how many coats of paint..how many coats of primer..how long to wait between coats...etc etc etc...thx

Look at ?flamingo? thread by Woodonglass. Woody is one of the main authorities on painting around here. I think he used Rustoleum for his beauty.
If you check out my thread: 1959 Glasscat Catamaran Project Underway. I used Rustoleum right out of the can utilizing the roll and tip method. For me (I am not a perfectionist; by the way, I am happy with my results with just a light dry sanding before paint). The paint took a long time to dry (you can add hardeners ?again see woody?). But I did not know about them when I began my painting. It dries hard eventually; the coat is fragile for a week or two.

thx for the info..i checked out both of the threads..i forgot to mention that the boat currently has been rattle canned with rustoleum..after i fill the scratches and sand, can i use that existing rattle can as a primer and then proceed with my first coat of paint and so forth??

If it's adhering well, then yes.
