Most Counties have advanced enough to switched to the Metric System... It does make a lot more sense, as Volumes and Weights are tied together in much more Logical Patterns

The Russians/Soviets have no reason to be ashamed, or ridiculed, as they did

First Satellite to hit the Moon
First Satellite to go around the Moon
First Man in Space

Thats true. Metris makes so much more sense. SAE socket and wrench sizes drive me nuts. With metric, if the 13mm socket don't fit, try the 14mm!

They donā€™t do too well with nuclear reactors either
Because they were designed to produce both n electricity and weapons grade plutonium

I was inside that Plane at an airshow in 1992 here, at Namao, near Edmonton. I also watched its arrival. Entire Floor was Titanium

A cc(1cm x 1cm x 1cm) of Water weighs a Gram
A Liter(10cm x 10cm x 10cm) of Water weighs a Kilogram
A Cubic Meter of Water is 1 1000 Kilograms(Metric Ton)

Zero as a Freezing Point of Water makes sense, as does 100 for Boiling Point. Where/what Fahrenheit, pulled 32 and 212 from...? Sure there is a 180 spread, greater than the 100 for C, but that's why Decimals were invented, and work very well with Metric, which utilizes Base 10 Numbering

and in the hydrogeologic realm in the good 'ol US of A - cm/sec are used simultaneously with feet and inches - now that's makes a lotta sense...

As it were...

If it's wrenching, give me one or the other, not a mix (like I found on some of my old cars). Weights and other measures - my mind doesn't do most metric readily unless there's a fairly close comparison (meters and yards, for ex.).

I was in High School when Canada did its Conversion to Metric, and I am quite good at functioning in Both Systems.
I know there are 1.6kms in a Mile, 2.2 lbs in a Kilogram. that 0C is 32F, 10C is 50F, 20C is 68, and 30C is just too damn hot
Every 10C change is 18F chance
4.54 Liters make a Gallon.
Acre and Hectares, I have no clue, but then again I really don't give a Damn either

I saw it too, but I thought it was a couple years earlier. Maybe not. Same time as the really impressive Cobra move done by the Sukhoi fighters. Look at those styles!

Wouldn't trade (political systems) with them.
That one was 1992. I have a lot of pics(6 or 7 rolls of 36, though nothing compared to what are taken with todays ML) from that airshow, and quite a few of various Russian Fighters. There was one Mig(I think) there that did some Incredible Maneuvers, quite close to the ground too.

For Decades Corruption has been Russia's biggest Problem, which is a Problem of Man, not an Ideology.

Not sure the metric system vs. the imperial measurement system had anything to do with the moon landings, but here is a link to a summary of landings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_landing

Ford vehicles have been metric fasteners for a while. I don't really care what system is in use . . . if the socket fits, turn it.

When Grumman built the LEM in Bethpage Long Island (1962-1972), the had a staff of 7,000 people working on their first spacecraft. It was quite a time here on LI, Grumman was so busy that they had to stagger work schedules to avoid massive traffic back ups.
