I have a 2R76S Johnson 2 hp. I have spark and I cleaned the carburetor good. After i cleand the carb, it started after a few pulls and ran for a few seconds. It did that about three times. Then would not start again. I can squirt fuel in the cylinder and it will start and run til it burns that fuel off. I can't squirt fuel in the carburetor due to the design of the front plate which covers carb. Plug did not look fouled or wet. I actually threw a new plug in it too. Any help would be appreciated.

Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on an open air test device.-----A sparkplug laying on the block is NOT a good test.-----Is the filter screen and valve on the tank clean ?

have you tried openning the needles a bit more

the top needle feeds the drip chamber under the dime size plug ..did you service it ? ..

did you blow all passages after the card service... there is a side channel leading to the top idle circuit with a very small hole if you look real close ... blow it out with carb cleaner ..make certain the carb cleaner comes out the top with the needle all out

has suggested make certain fuel reaches the carb from the tank

Yes the filter and the tank valve are clean. Also, I just used one of those cheap spark testers from Harbor Freight.

Thanks, I'll have to look at the carb again and make sure I got the side passage. I don't remember seeing that. Fuel is getting to the carb. Good info. Thanks!
