Running Low in cylinder 3, Any Suggestions?

I took a 1963 - 65 H.P. Johnson from not running to running like crap to running good but high idle now got it running pretty good but still a little rough.

I can get some speed out of it but it takes a while to get it up to plane.

I was putting some carb cleaner through it today and cylinder 1 & 2 still run smooth when putting the carb cleaner in it but cylinder 3 starts bogging down and then it stalls out as soon as i hit it with the carb cleaner.

So something is an issue with number 3 Cylinder or Carb.

All 3 cylinder are between 125 and 128 psi, all seem to have good spark and brand new plugs.

What could be causing the # 3 cylinder to bog the enginge down.

I am thinking maybe coil pack but it does have spark. Is it possible that the spark could be not strong enough or more of a fuel delivery issue?

Are you sure it is a 3 cylinder 1963 65 hp? In my way of thinking, if I understand what you are saying, #1 & 2 do not bog down and # 3 does. Sounds like you have a problem with #1 & 2, if you are putting the same amount of carb cleaner through all 3 carbs.

very possible that its a spark issue, get yourself a spark tester (they are cheap) or google how to make one. ( i have used a good spark plug, opened the gap to 3/8" . some say you need the spark to jump 7/16 tho). if it does show up as a spark issue, try new wires before doing much else.....or even switch a wire from a good cly, to #3.

Another thing to consider is spraying excessive amounts of carb clean into a 2 stroke will clean the oil off the bit's and pieces in the crank case. I would consider making a spray bottle up with pre-mix in it if you want to continue testing it this way.

I did as was said about using a spray bottle of mixed gas and had the exact same issue, when i spray some gas into #1 & 2 the engine continues to run, as soon as any extra fuel hits # 3 it bogs down and stalls the engine. Also when i am in low idle you can hear it running but it seems like there is a misfire, it run kind of ok in low idle in gear but if i put down my happy troller it stalls out.

Will the spark jump a 7/16" air gap. What is your model number?

buy a spark checker from harborfreight.com theyr about 2 bucks, put it in your garage or outside in the night and test it. havesomeone start it while you look for the red light. best way but keep your hands back! YOU WILL GET SHOCKED!! i did -_-. also your rings might be bad and please dont use cab cleaner!!!! use starting fluid or gasoline in a spray bottle is the best. good luck
