A very long time ago I left my Ruger single six with another (not going to say why) and kept the Mag cylinder. Kept thinking about it and thought about getting another. Found the 22 cal pistol is worth $7 to $800 bucks, for a 22 ?? Really?

Seems like most used Single-Six revolvers in decent shape are going between $500-$700. They are a fun little gun.

A lot of older quality pistols and revolvers are going for more than they sold for new. The condition sets the price, but even fair condition guns goes for more than bought new. The Ruger Standard (22 automatic) is certainly sought after. Ruger made some of the most wanted 22 pistols, revolvers and rifles ever made.

This got me thinking about another gun I got from Dad when he passed. Its a Erma 22 LR luger. Made in Germany and is a nice piece, only issue is the spring in the magazine. Erma went out of business and not many parts around, might look around to see if I can find one

I see the Erma-Werke 22LR Luger style handguns going for between $400-$650.

A quick parts search found a couple of mag springs, unfortunately several were "out of stock."

That's what I found also. Found on ebay, but buying used means I get more of what I have.

Maybe a gun smith may be able to make one

You could measure the spring and find a suitable substitute on a spring manufacturing company. Just an idea...

The cylinders for 22LR and 22WMR are fitted for the gun and may not be interchangeable for different frames on the Single-Six. "For those models that ship with both cylinders, the last 3 digits of the serial number are engraved on the front of the cylinder; only cylinders that have been properly timed should be used with any given revolver. "
The Ruger Single-Six was the first revolver I ever shot as a friend got one when they first came out. Some years later I got a Frontier Scout, Colts answer to Ruger and now probably use it more than any other of my handguns.

That's an idea if there is one. Will look around
I just did a quick cursory research and to my surprise there are lots and lots of custom spring companies out there. And a lot of them state there is no minimum number either. So I think you could find one or have one made. Numrich Arms is a gun parts dealer. Have a look there as well.

Drove over to the youngest boy's house this evening to drop off some gifts an lo and behold he had to show me his latest acquisitions. A Ruger Wrangler single action 22 was among them. Seems to be well made and lock up tight and sells new for around $150 or used for less than I probably spend in a month on Dr. Pepper, and snuff. His wife raises a lot of chickens so he justified it as a pest gun to her but the main reason was he didn't have a single action 22 yet.

When we moved up north to the sticks, I bought my wife a "house warming" gift. Ruger Mark II .22...... Need to be creative...

Is the single six an actual older model? I have a single action Ruger from way back in the day. I used it on my trap line... It was dads gun....

The original single six came out in 1953 or 54 if my memory serves me correct. Trappers and plinkers were probably the best customers. The wrangler is updated most notably with a transfer bar safety so there is no need to carry with an empty chamber under the hammer. Grips are identical and you have to look close to see the difference. I do remember my buddy and I using it to plink cans back when fathers would still trust a 14 or 15 year old with a new gun.

Speaking about pistols, and guns in general, I have to post about a Christmas gift I received this year from my younger adult son. I got a Tradition's .69 caliber Old Iron Side Cannon kit. And it is actually a real shooting cannon kit that I have to finish the wood parts and assembly. And it is pretty heavy being that it has to hold up to the black powder charge and .69 cal. round. I have to say, while I can't carry it around as a self defense gun, not that there is any law stopping it, it would just look really odd pulling it out of a holster, but it would do the job... lol

Great info. Link was very helpful to figure out what I have in the lineup. As far as I can tell it's a '62 or '63. Has the round front sight with just a windage adjustable rear. Also has the extra WMR cylinder, which came out in '62. Although, no markings on the cylinder, just larger chambers... Oiled walnut grip and a 6.5" barrel. Also, 3 screws thru the frame.
'64 had the windage and elevation adjustment.
