Re: Roller Rocker arms

I am currently running a 14.25X19p SS 3 blade prop, mine only seems to run around 20-25at around 4100 RPM's, with the current gauges installed anyways

Get the gauges swapped so you can verify those numbers. My pukey little 140HP with a 19P aluminum prop runs 34MPH (off speedo) at 4300RPM.

What type of boat do you have?

running by the gps on my fish finder mph reading was 53. gauge in the dash was a hair past 50. I would suggwest you put in new gauges then if you still only get 20 to 25 mph you should be on the prop forum messing with a prop calculator and getting advice from those guys. Just sayin

Yeah, but you must have that special 3.7L.

They came with a 1.84 outdrive. A 21" pitch prop with zero slip at 4300 RPM would give you 46 MPH. 53 MPH means that you have negative slip, in other words your boat is going about 20% faster than the prop is turning. Kind of like saying your car is going faster than the wheels are turning. Ain't gonna happen in this world.

(Prop slip calculator here:

http://www.mercuryracing.com/propellers/propslipcalculator.php)

But hey, maybe you know more than Mercruiser and changed the lower to a 1.5 ratio. In that case, your 53 MPH would give 7% slip which is at least possible.

Then again, as I said earlier, this is the internet, and you can post anything you like whether it's true or not. ;)

If I had a 3.7L, it would go at least 60 MPH. :)
