This is a more simplified version of an earlier post I made.

Boat a boat, 1992 Alumaweld with a 1991 yamaha V4 115 C115TLRP. Had been doing a few repairs and on first test drive the boat would not climb past 2,000 rpms. It still will not go above that due to the rpm reduction. I found that the alarm was disconnected within the yamaha 703 control box. I have had waterpump replaced, t-stats and poppet valve. I mix my own oil/ gas.

Now, the alarm goes off as soon as you turn the key on. The alarm will stop if you press the trim up button. I disconnected all three trim wires within the control box (red, light green, light blue) and alarm still sounds when trim button up is pressed. Only trim up, trim down and the alarm still sounds. I have disconnected both temp sensors and has no effect.

While on the water motor will go into rpm reduction mode and will not climb above 2000 rpms UNTIL you press the trim up button then it tries to leave the water will all the power!

If you disconnect the main harness at the motor the alarm will stop ( Im assuming that I killed the power not fixed the grounding issue) If I disconnect the red wire with a fuse link going to the starter relays it will stop.

Im stuck and dont know where to go at this point. Can you point me in another direction?

THANKS
Robert

As has been stated before Rod has not posted for some time on this forum and sounds like a wiring problem. If it acts and runs fine with main harness disconnected the I would be looking at the harness itself for shorted wires.

By the way what you wrote does not make a lot of sense. Sometimes it alarms all the time and only quits when pushing trim and other times say it alarms when pushing trim

Sorry, it was a late night chasing wires. I meant to say the alarm is going off as long as the key is on. Even without the motor running. But, every time i push the trim up button, the alarm will stop.
