I have a 2002 27" rinker with a 5.7L Merc cruiser i/o after 7 years and 300 hours my new mechanic is telling me I need risers as I am getting water in my cylinders due a low water line and water coming back up my exhaust, is this a common problem with this line of boat. I find it odd that after seven years I am just experiencing this problem now??

Risers do wear out. If its a saltwater boat they fail quicker. They are supposed to be checked periodically and replaced before they fail.
