We have 20MPH speed zones when childern are present. Our service managers son was doing 35, which is the normal speed at 5:30pm on a school day. They went to court and the judge ruled that school day ended at 3:30 so no childern were present.

It's easy to criticise when you don't have to live up to the standards you impose on others. PPPPPlllleeeaaassseee-

This a LEO? Have you seen Jimmy Justice on Youtube. Nothing more aggravating than seeing a cop blow by at 90 getting to a restaurant, then an hour later handing out a speeding ticket at 10 over.

There's a reason for the old saying "take it with a grain of salt". -

Really....is that what you would do if the work the mechanic did to your bellows sank the boat? I hardly think so. By taking a PROFESSIONAL line of work, darn right I hold you to a higher standard. That cop is a joke and I firmly believe if the judge was to throw it out that the officers record reflect that, and if there are too many misinterpretations, then retraining should be in order. I have nothing but complete respect for a professional LEO, but posers need to be retrained or let go...

Well... Just like I do with every other cop-bashing thread I'll point out that there are some in EVERY profession who should not be there. I'm thrilled to "admit" that there are some in law enforcement who don't belong there either. Does that somehow make you feel better?

You are entitled to your opinion, but for it to have credibility with others it must have some basis in fact. In this case you don't have the facts, you have only what the cited driver told a friend. There is not enough information for a fair-minded person to develop an INFORMED opinion. If we were to speculate there are a number of explanations (some offered already and some not) which are more likely than the one provided by the author.

I just don't like to see the judgemental bashing. Criticism based on factual information is entirely fair - but we don't have the facts and as such no one has any business coming to the conclusion that the "officer is a joke". It seems unfair that you would assert your "complete respect for a professional LEO" after judging this LEO based on second-hand story which is unlikely at best.

Would you like to be judged personally and professionally in this unfair manner? This goes well beyond LEOs having to live to a higher standard - this is just mean-spirited bashing. Your bias is showing.

Pretty simple really Kids go to school Mon-Fri which are School days "No Turn on Red during school days" means no turning on Red...kids and others use Schools at night, in the summer and on vacation also.
So you turned on Red which is the same as going through the stop sign on a School day which means your guilty you'll probably get the fine reduced and it won't be on your record but you are guilty and you should have been ticketed.

Definitely not an acceptable definition of 'school days'! Even your definition is what the local legislators mean, it is ambiguous and ambiguity does not stand up in court.!

What do you expect when you've got a government that calls a weed a drug and makes it against the law then employs a bunch of idiots to enforce instead of protest it { just how many years have we been fighting the WAR ON DRUGS}. When it comes to serve and protect the only people they serve and protect is the government. Remember Kent State in the sixtys { google it }. In my 50 yrs I've met maybe 3 cool cops, the rest I would rather shoot in the head...ANIMAL :D

A little P.S. for all you cop types out there. I own a base ball bat instead of a gun but kick my door in and I'm going to bust you in the head and I don't care how many pieces of paper you have to wipe my butt on. If you are not GOD you have no right to judge you'r fellow man...ANIMAL P.S. Thats why I live in the woods where I can hear you comming from 1/2 mile away....ANIMAL :D

You telling me how the things are or will stand up in court is about as laughable as it gets.

Re: Right turn on Red ?

I agree that's a very vague law. There is a school zone close to my office. The sign reads school zone, 25mph speed limit when children present. I'm waiting to get a ticket through here for someone elses different interpretation of when children are present. To me that's when you can actually see kids? If school is in session, there shouldn't be kids on the streets, are they still considered present though? My town has the flashing lights. I think that's a much better system as there is no judgement call to be made, it's black or white(or yellow and dark I guess), no gray area.

Yes PierBridge I have no respect for the court system at all. Its a big joke and the day they decide to put me away is the day I'll stay because I'll probbly take a few with me. If they lock me up good they can suport me { and my meds alone are over $300 a month and one way or another they have to let me out someday even if its in a pine box. I'm not afraid of death are you? And now to Kenmyfam, ya I've been to canada quite a bit back in the mid '80s. Drove truck for North American Van Lines in high value products div. Hadn't been there sence. Itis or was a great place except for the cold and custems. They took my trailer for a week one time { thought I was smuggling illegles }. Could get through US side comming or going but it would take all day at Canadas side. Don't plan to go no where I need a passport. If I leave the country I won't be comming back. Love the woods up there but tooo bloody cold for me. And everyone can relax, I didn't reproduce { no kids thank god },,,unless you want to count the 2 years I was overseas,,,LOL....ANIMAL ;)
