rich lean setting

I have a 1975 evinrude 9.9hp. how many turns from lighty closed to properly set the rich/lean setting? it only has the one setting knob.
any help would be great.

I can't remember but I'll check my book tomorrow and let you know if no one jumps in with the correct answer. Rick.

start at about 1.5 turns. start the motor and let it warm up. at idle turn the knob in until it begins to stumble or cough. then back it out until it just smooths out.
