Restoring Floor In Skeeter SD 80

I am restoring a 1990 Skeeter SD 80 that has abeen neglected. I have never restored or repaired a fiber glass boat. The carpet on the floor has rotted away showing a thin fiberglass sheet. The area over the trench for the hoses leading to the forward livewell is flimsey. Is this the way the fiberglass sheet should be and when the carpet is replaced will it be able to support a persons weight or does another sheet need be applyed before the carepet?

There is more work ahead then you are likely expecting, the threads linked in Don's list will be extremely helpful in learning how to put your Skeeter back together.

It is unlikely that a boat deck (floor) that has had the carpet rotted away due to exposure, will have a transom, stringers & deck that don't all need close inspection & possibly all will need to be replaced.

Howdy Neighbor...JB has you on the right track...most of us here have never done any work on a 'glass boat before...but it can be done and with great results... It will take some commitment though...
