Yep 70 is the max for it. a 50 or 60 would prolly be better. Where did you see the the Outboards for $900?? I'm guessing she'll need a total restore, so be prepared. You can totally create the seats from scratch. I Did. Guages and hardware will be hit and miss on Ebay and Craigslist and Boat Graveyards. We'll be here to help

I saw those restored Mercs on FiberGlassics.com. Click on 'Glassifieds' and you'll see engines for sale. There's still a '61 70hp for 900.00.

So I'll look for a 60hp instead----thanks for the advice.

I'm sure I'll need help with the seats:) I'd Really like to find some good condition original seats and re-cover them like the original pattern. Or is it easier/better to just make them yourself? Thanks
