replacing water jacket cover on 1979 140

Hi All
Iam replacing thw big long water jacket cover gasket. My question is, 1- what sealent should I use and 2- do I need to put anti-seize compound on the bolts

in the auto world I would use permatex #2 and a little anti-seixe

Mercury recommends no sealant and anti corrosion grease on the bolts
