I just got a GLM21450 shift cable kit and I’m a little unsure what these parts are for. The plastic watcher the little metal wire and the orange plastic piece.

The orange Thing is a tool that holds the end of the shift cable when reinstalling the drive its great use it.

The metal wire is safety wire that holds the set screw on the shift slide in place.

The plastic washer goes on the shift shaft Picture attached

Do not tighten the set screw to tight! Just snug it up and back it off a real tiny bit. If too loose, shifting will be impossible to adjust, to tight and the cable will bind.
